BORN IN BALI
Whispering Silk began with a journey… I got on a flight to Bali with an idea. - a love of silk, art and beautiful clothes.
I have always been drawn to unique pieces that stand out as a statement and are not main stream fashion.
What followed was months of exploring, searching and creating: finding the right silk, meeting local makers and artists, learning about traditional batik and discovering the possibilities of painting directly onto silk.
Slowly Whispering Silk began to take shape.
Not in a design studio or around a boardroom table, but here in Bali - through conversations on the streets and back alleys and chance meetings, samples and sketches, colour and experimentation and the hands of the people I met along the way.
HANDS BEHIND THE SILK
Every Whispering Silk piece begins with an idea before passing into the hands of the Balinese artists and makers who bring it to life.
Working together, we explore colour, placement and design using traditional batik and hand painting techniques to transform each silk piece into wearable art.
Whispering Silk would not exist without those hands, their skill and the relationship we have built along the way.
Supporting people behind Whispering Silk matters deeply to me.
By working directly with local artists and makers, every piece helps support their craft, their livelihoods and the communities that have welcomed me in so warmly.
INSPIRED BY THE ISLAND
Bali itself became my greatest source of inspiration..The turquoise waters of Nusa Penida, the local black and white butterfly that I see every day..the golden sands and the breathtaking colours of sunrise and sunset…. The lotus especially meaningful to me.
I have seen it so many times as a symbol, but seeing these beautiful flowers growing here with my own eyes was something entirely different … It also became the symbol of Whispering Silk.
Our seven petal lotus represents the seven chakras-a quiet thread of balance, energy and connection woven into the identity of the brand.
And little by little all those moments found their way into the Whispering Silk.
MADE TO BE WORN
I wanted Whispering Silk to feel unique and effortless.
Pieces you can throw over swimwear with bare feet and salty hair, wear with denim shorts and cowboy boots or dress up as the sun goes down.
There are no rules, wear it your way.
From the beaches of Bali to long summer nights in Ibiza and wherever comes next Whispering Silk is made for making memories.
